A Maine Limited Power of Attorney Form is designed to give the Attorney-in-Fact a single power, to make a specific decision or perform a specific action on behalf of the Principal. These are almost always financial in nature, such as purchasing an automobile, managing investments or bank accounts, or filing taxes, although rarely they can cover childcare or similar.

Under Maine state law, unless the agreement specifies otherwise, this agreement will go into effect immediately upon being signed and will be terminated if the Principal is rendered incapable of making their own decisions. If the Principal wishes to avoid this, they will have to add language into the agreement specifying that it is Springing or Durable, respectively.
