The Rhode Island Medical Power of Attorney Form gives the Agent the power to make decisions about the Principal’s medical care. This agreement is always Durable, to the point where many states, including Rhode Island, include that term in the legal term for a Medical Power of Attorney agreement.

In Rhode Island, a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care is always a separate document from a Living Will Declaration. As many Principal’s will want any Agent they name for a Medical Power of Attorney to have power to mange their End of Life Care, they will need to draft a separate document, although if they wish to name a different person or persons in this case it will be exceptionally easy.
