A Michigan Rental Application Form is a legal document used when a tenant applies to rent a piece of residential property. The application will ask you for much of the applicant’s personal information as well as background information. This information will be used to obtain a credit report which will then be analyzed to see if the applicant fits within the landlord’s proper credentials.
A potential tenant should know the landlord can only ask questions related to their background history (credit, criminal) and not things in relation to their color, sex, age (unless under 18), and family status. Once the tenant gives all proper information and signs off on the form, the landlord has the full authority to obtain a credit report on the tenant’s behalf. If the tenant is denied by the landlord, the landlord must disclose the reasons as to why.
