The Texas Rental Application Form is a form that most landlords will require a potential tenant to complete before signing a lease. It is a fairly standard form that allows a landlord to screen out tenants who have a history of breaking leases or causing problems for their landlords. A landlord has the right to charge a nonrefundable fee for this application.
While primarily used by a landlord to screen out problematic tenants, a rental application can also be useful for an applicant with an exemplary rental history to stand out from other applicants. Most rental applications will look into a tenants credit score, rental history and work history. As such, to be prepared for the application, an applicant should have, or have easy access to, their social security number, pay stubs or other proof of work and the names and contact information for any landlords the tenant wishes to use as references.
